Outings

St.Leon-Rot is an ideal starting point for outings to the cathedral in Speyer, the castles in Heidelberg, Bruchsal, Karlsruhe and Schwetzingen with its well-known park. Large sports events at the Hockenheimring or top events at the golf courses are excellent to reach.

Recreation at the lake and pure golf

Out of the asparagus season St.Leon-Rot also has its attractions. You can play golf all the year round at the golf course in St.Leon-Rot on two 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course.(Golf Club St.Leon-Rot). ( Golfclub St. Leon-Rot )

The recreation area at the Lake St. Leon attracts bathing guests in summer and camping guests all the year round and offers many sports activities. Water-skiing on the cableway, sailing and surfing can be indulged in as well as diving. ( St. Leoner See.).

The Asparagus Road in Baden

Since 1994 the Asparagus Road “ in Baden leads from Schwetzingen via St. Leon-Rot, Bruchsal, Karlsruhe and Rastatt to Scherzheim. Like pearls on a string the communities, in the sandy soils of which this royal vegetable grows, are lined up. In the asparagus season from mid-April until St. Johannes' Day (24th June) the gastronomy serves specialities with fresh asparagus and numerous communities attract connoisseurs from near and far to their asparagus fêtes. Situated in the Rhine plain, St. Leon-Rot is recommendable not only for a visit and recreation, but also as a place of residence.

The gastronomy – the restaurant at the “Harres” conference and culture centre can be highly recommended – offers a wide selection, not only during the asparagus season ( Harres ).
The Asparagus Road is visually presented and explained in an attractive tourist map (price: 3,40 €) with numerous references to tourist highlights left and right of the route and to the gastronomy on the way. The Rhine valley cycleway

The 520 km long Rhine valley cycleway begins in Constance at Lake Constance and follows Germany’s main stream, the Rhine, to Mannheim or via Heidelberg to the romantic wine-growing town of Heppenheim. This cycleway leads past towns worthwhile visiting and other cultural landscapes in 5 stages to the destination.
St.Leon-Rot is situated in the middle of the 5th stage between Ettlingen and Heppenheim and invites the cyclist to pause for rest. The cyclist can refresh himself by swimming in the cool waters of the bathing lake of the recreation area of Lake St. Leon before continuing his journey along the remaining kilometres.
During the asparagus season from mid-April to mid-June culinary specialities invite to make a stop at the gastronomies of the community; St.Leon-Rot is also one of the communities situated along the Asparagus Road in Baden and is one of the largest asparagus-growing communities of the area.
